Emma Bormann (Vienna 1887 – 1974 in Riverside, Kalifornien)

was an Austrian graphic artist known for her detailed woodcuts. She studied in Vienna and developed an early interest in printmaking, particularly inspired by Japanese colour woodcuts.

Her works mainly depict cityscapes and travel scenes from Europe, Asia and North America. She captured urban living spaces with precise lines and atmospheric depth.

Bormann travelled extensively and was one of the few internationally recognised graphic artists of her time. Her works are now represented in numerous museums and collections and are considered impressive testimonies to a cosmopolitan, artistically committed woman of the 20th century.
