Oswald Grill (1878 – Vienna – 1964)

A native of Vienna, he studied painting in Vienna and at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts. From 1906 onwards, he worked as a freelance artist in Dachau, later in Vienna and Unterach am Attersee. In 1908, he joined the Vienna Artists' Association, was awarded the title of professor in 1929, and became president of the Central Association of Fine Artists in Austria in 1934. Grill exhibited his work at the Munich Glass Palace, among other venues. His naturalistic landscapes and portraits are characterised by bright, clear natural moods. He found many motifs at Lake Attersee and was an enthusiastic sailor, beekeeper and schnapps distiller. He received numerous awards and is an honorary member of the Union Yacht Club Attersee. His works can be found in the Belvedere collection in Vienna, among others.
