Gabi Trinkaus (born in Graz in 1966, lives and works in Vienna)
explores the visual language of consumerism and the media in her artistic work. Using fragments from glossy magazines, advertisements and mass media, she constructs multi-layered collages that reassemble portraits and urban scenes. The result is images that appear familiar and alienating at the same time – a critical examination of ideals of beauty, social role models and media representation. Her technique combines meticulous cutting with sensitive composition, creating a unique, ambiguous visual language. Her works have been shown at international art fairs such as Art Basel, Frieze London, the Armory Show in New York, the Moscow Biennale and ViennaFair. The artist's works can be found in the Museum der Moderne Salzburg, the Neue Galerie Graz, the Belvedere in Vienna and international private collections, among others.
