Hans Bischoffshausen (Kassel 1928 – Vienna 2004)

was an important Austrian painter and graphic artist who lived and worked in Paris from 1959 to 1968. This period was formative for his artistic development: his abstract works are characterised by dynamic areas of colour and powerful, organic forms. In Paris, he encountered influences from artists such as Joan Miró and Paul Klee, whose playful gestures and experimental visual language are reflected in his works. Bischoffshausen used various techniques, including monotypes, screen prints and relief-like structures. His works are exhibited internationally and represented in important collections.
