kunstmöbeltischlerei, Wien

The Heinrich Irmler company is considered to have been one of the most prominent cabinetmakers around the turn of the century. They often worked from designs prepared by professors of the School of Art and Design, as did quite a few other Viennese master craftsmen of that time. It was at the turn of the century that the relationship between furniture producers and the School of Arts and Crafts improved. More and more cabinetmakers sent their offspring to the school. In order to be able to compete on the market and to meet the demand for modern forms, they needed designers with specialist training.
