Erwin Wurm (born in Bruck an der Mur in 1954, lives and works in Vienna and Limberg, Lower Austria)

is one of Austria's best-known contemporary artists. He gained international recognition with his One Minute Sculptures, in which viewers themselves become part of temporary sculptures by following absurd instructions. His works playfully yet profoundly question concepts such as the body, norms, objects and identity. In the series The Desperate Philosopher, Wurm addresses existential questions in deformed, sometimes humorously exaggerated figures. His works are represented in international museums and collections and are also among the most sought-after contemporary art pieces on the art market.
