Arne Jacobsen (1902 – Copenhagen – 1971)

was an important Danish architect and designer who had a decisive influence on Scandinavian modernism. He became famous above all for his iconic Egg Chair (1958), whose organic form and high level of comfort made it a design classic. In addition to the Egg Chair, Jacobsen designed other iconic pieces of furniture such as the Swan Chair and the minimalist Series 7 Chair. His designs combine functionality with elegant aesthetics and set standards in the history of furniture. He also left his mark as an architect, for example with the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen.
