Christian Ludwig Attersee (born in Pressburg in 1940)

is one of Austria's most important contemporary artists. After studying stage design and painting at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, he developed a distinctive style in the 1960s that combines pop art, fantasy and critical social observation. Early on, he addressed consumerism and the world of advertising; later, his works became more expressive, larger in format and more colourful. In addition to painting, he worked as a musician, filmmaker and stage designer. He was a professor at the University of Applied Arts (1992–2009) and received numerous awards, including the Grand Austrian State Prize (1997) and the Cross of Honour for Science and Art (2005). His art revolves around beauty, eroticism, sensuality and poetic imagery.
